Welcome to Castle Bytham

Castle Bytham is a small, friendly village set in idyllic surroundings situated approximately 4 miles east of the A1. This ancient conservation village is steeped in history, with artefacts dating back to Roman times. There are Saxon stone fragments in the church, medieval coffins in the graveyard, a castle mound which dates from the time of the Domesday Book, a medieval fish farm, a village pond and much more to see.

Many of the outstanding old houses built between the 15th and 18th centuries are now listed buildings; The Priory (a 15th century farmhouse with Elizabethan frontage), Castle, Red Barn and Rectory Farms, the Manor House and Glen House.

Castle Bytham boasts a Parish Church, village store, two pubs/restaurants and a village hall; ideal for family functions, activities and fund-raising events. A bus service runs through the village allowing easy access to neighbouring towns.

To fully appreciate the beauty of the village, one must take advantage of the many public paths available to walkers. The rolling landscape provides several excellent viewpoints and the chance to enjoy Castle Bytham.
